[UK] Overseas Research Student (ORS) Awards Scheme - Postgraduate
Overseas Research Student (ORS) Awards Scheme is funded by the British government is open to research students liable to pay fees at the overseas rate and is expected to be available to those who in October 2007 will be entering a new course of study or going into the second year of a research degree. Please see
www.admin.ox.ac.uk/io/ for a list of eligible courses.
Number and value of awards
Students who obtain an ORS award will normally be charged university fees at the home/EU rate. Awards are renewable for as long as a student is liable for University fees up to a maximum of three years. ORS awards may be held in conjunction with many other scholarships, and can be seen as an element of a 'package' of financial support assembled by a prospective student. For new students most ORS awards will be allocated as part of a financial package with Clarendon awards. Details on funding available in 2007 is not yet known but in 2006 around 70 candidates from Oxford received awards.
Application procedure
You should complete the funding sections of the graduate
admissions form. Some subject areas require or recommend ORS applicants to apply for admission in the first or second
gathered field. You should therefore check the requirements of your faculty or department in the relevant
subject entry of this prospectus. No candidates applying for admission later than the third gathered field can be considered for ORS awards.
